ABOUT US

Lyrical dancer

Burlington Dance Academy has built a reputation for excellence in dance instruction as the most tenured dance school in our community from when we first opened our doors in 1956.

From your child’s first class to their graduation performance, BDA has a class for everyone! We specialize in beginners of all ages and offer training through pre-professional levels. BDA is more than just a dance school. We are a family. Our dancers go beyond technique to develop important life skills, learning to be respectful, confident, conscientious young people who share their gifts and talents with the community.

FACULTY

The artistic staff at Burlington Dance Academy come from many diverse, professional backgrounds such as the National Ballet School’s Teacher Training Program, Quinte Ballet School of Canada, Ryerson University and other recognized dance institutions. The aim of our staff is to provide a positive and caring atmosphere as a background for learning the discipline of dance. Regardless of a student’s age or experience, they will feel welcome and encouraged to explore the magic of movement.

In addition to the primary instructors, many of our classes also have trained assistants who aid the teacher in demonstrating steps and technique as well as correcting and supporting the students.

At BDA, professional pianists accompany and inspire every creative movement and ballet class.

We pride ourselves on the provision of a high level of administrative service to our clients. We have three full-time staff members who work diligently to ensure parents are kept well informed of every aspect of our programs.

Our Director, Tania Infante, is always pleased to speak with parents who have any questions or concerns.

FACILITY

Burlington Dance Academy offers three full-size state-of-the-art studios featuring professional Harlequin sprung floors. We are conveniently located with ample parking and amenities nearby.

Every year our students prepare for our Year-End Performance held at the stunning Burlington Performing Arts Centre. All students and faculty bring their hard work to the stage for their families and our community by participating in this special, memorable show featuring elaborate costumes and sets and creative lighting.

BDA celebrates graduating students with a formal, onstage presentation at our Year-End Performance in full graduate dress to acknowledging their accomplishments on and offstage. We have annual scholarships in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical and Tap for students who have shown outstanding achievements in those categories.

We have participated in many community events, such as Burlington’s Santa Claus Parade, donating proceeds of our Competitive Showcase to Carpenter Hospice (a palliative care facility), fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation (during our Have a Heart Week), and Toys for Tots Christmas drive.

Burlington Dance Academy not only provides excellent dance education, but it promotes an inclusive community for dancers and their families. As BDA alumni, it has been a wonderful experience to share my love of dance with my daughter and watch her grow, thrive and build friendships at the studio where I was trained. And with programs offered for adults, it is an absolute delight to be back in the studio taking classes! Our family looks forward to many more exciting years at Burlington Dance Academy!

Our daughter has danced at BDA since she was 3 years old. Although the studio is not close to our house, we continue to make the trip and would not consider dancing at any other studio. There are many things we love about BDA. First, we have always found the song selections and costumes for my daughter’s recitals to be very tasteful and fitting for her age. Second, my daughter adores her dance teachers, they have always been wonderful, especially Miss. Carruthers whose firm but gentle teaching inspires grace and expression. Not only are the staff wonderful, but the older students who assist the classes are excellent role models who my daughter adores. She attends the dance camp each summer and comes home happy and connected due to the care and community these older students foster within the dance school. The other great thing about BDA is how well organized everything is, from registration to the recital. A great place to dance!
